Myopia

There are several treatment modalities to treat myopia, a condition in which patients can only see objects in their immediate vicinity. Myopia is on the rise, largely because people are spending more time indoors looking at screens rather than outside looking at objects at varying distances. Though there is no cure for myopia, Expert Eyecare can certainly treat it. If you struggle to see objects that are far away, give us a call at (812) 346-2020 so we can gauge the level of your myopia and ensure you see things that are at varying distances. Treatments for myopia alter the eye structure and the manner in which it focuses to decrease the fatigue and stress caused by the onset of nearsightedness.

Even if you do not mind only being able to see things that are close to your eyes, you should still visit with our optometrists for myopia control. Slowing myopia’s progression reduces the chances of developing nearsightedness as time progresses so you do not end up with thick eyeglasses and prove that much more likely to suffer from a detached retina or cataracts down the line. Myopia can be controlled with the use of multifocal contact lenses, orthokeratology, atropine eye drops and myopia control glasses.
